Cramer Pessary
In case the entire pelvic floor is weakened (through difficult births for example) or if there is an inherent weakness of the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue or overweight there is a risk of descent of pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, vagina and rectum). The consequences are pressure and foreign body sensation or pulling in the abdomen and in the lumbar region. Bladder and bowel disorders are often unpleasant side effects.
Description
Cramer-pessaries are used for the treatment of stress incontinence (involuntary loss of urine) and complaints resulting from a descensus of the vagina, uterus and bladder. This descent can be caused by a congenital weakness of connective tissue, through lack of hormones after menopause or because of pregnancy and childbirth. With the help of the pessary therapy - supported by pelvic floor exercises and possibly estrogen creams - these complaints can be medically treated successfully in a conventional way.
The two lumps on the upper edge of the pessary shift the transition between the bladder and urethra upwards and thus prevent involuntary urine loss under encumbrance such as coughing or movement. Requirements for the usage of a cramer pessary is that so far no vaginal surgery with reefing of the sheath has been made. In addition, it must be ensured that the pelvic floor has at least limited sustainability.
The Cramer Pessary contains a steel spring for stabilization.
